The Polk County Agricultural Economic Development Office promotes local food through involvement in farmers markets, community gardens, an informative breakfast series, workshops at Isothermal Community College, and more. Mill Spring is located in the northern part of Polk County adjacent to Lake Lure. The feel is rural. Tryon and Columbus are close by; Lake Lure is adjacent, north on highwway 9.
This is an area of farmland, horse farms, and homes on acreage tracts surrounded by mountainlands that include the World's Edge Naure Conservancy lands.
Local communities include the Lake Adger communities and the exclusive Bright's Creek Golf Community, home of the BMW PGA Tournament.
The commitment is to balance development with preserving the rural country feel of the area.
